The Company’s founder is the educator, author and poet Abdibashir Hirsiguled. Abdibashir has always had passion for women’s human rights and empowerment, where he has written several books about it. One of his books is called “Ask the women for solution instead” ( Dumar talo ma laga dayey, 2002). It is a literary story of the Somali civil war. With this story , the author wants to open doors for Somali women in politics and in the sphere of power while explaining the Somali history in a fictitious way.

Sompads was born when the founder defined the current problem that exists with menstrual hygiene management in horn of Africa. When he realized how lack of suitable sanitary materials affects women’s health, education, social security and finances, he decided to start a social company that will produce washable sanitary pads.
